When I had Harry I was so excited to have him with us but I also really missed being pregnant. It was such a weird feeling and not something my husband understood, but I think maybe because I went into labour naturally 9 days before my due date and I hadn’t reached that super uncomfortable stage, I wasn’t ready to not be pregnant anymore. There is something so special about being pregnant and I loved creating that amazing bond with your baby. So, I thought I would write a summary of my pregnancy before I forget and I thought I would start with the first trimester. Also, as I have started writing this I have realised that there is so much I want to write down and remember so I will be splitting this into parts.
I saw this tag on Ysis Lorenna’s blog and thought it would be a good way to share a bit more about myself so here goes …
1. Are you a stay-at-home mum, or a working mum?
I am a mummy on maternity leave at the moment. I actually work as a midwife and I do plan to go back to work after my year of maternity leave.
2. Would you have it any other way?
Even though I am only two months into motherhood I really wouldn’t have it any other way. Anyone who knows me in my personal life knows how much I love children and that I have wanted to be a mother for so long, although now to less children (I used to want 8!).
3. Do you co-sleep?
Harry starts off in his crib that is attached to our bed and we plan to keep him in our room until he is at least 6 months old. I start every night with the best of intentions not to bring Harry into our bed but that always seem to go out of the window by the 3am feed!
I absolutely love dressing Harry in cute outfits, and we were given so many lovely things that he grows out of so quickly that I thought it would be nice to document his outfits in some way. I then spotted the blog and instagram post by Sarah from This Mama Life called ‘What My Kids Wore Wednesday’ and I thought it seemed like a perfect way to do so. True to form Harry then vommed all over his outfit but I thought I would take a quick snap anyway because it’s a super cute dungaree set!
I am currently writing this blog post one handed, with an (almost) sleeping baby on my lap, covered in vomit. To summarise how my day is going, when I started writing that sentence I was not covered in vomit. My name is Ellyn and I am a mummy to a two month old boy called Harry. I am currently on maternity leave and want to remember this special time in my life so hence I am writing a blog. This is actually the third blog I have started; the first one I started in university which was mainly about makeup, and the second only has one post, which I started when I began the job I am currently on maternity leave from. So don’t expect this to carry on for too long! Harry has now done a poo explosion, thankfully it doesn’t appear to have leaked yet, so I think I should call it a day for now and leave it at that as an introduction!
